Mrs Paterson and Mr Oates accompanied 23 pupils to the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and stayed in the Scottish Youth Hostel Lodge in the region. Our trip included two days at stunning Loch Morlich, encompassing an array of outdoor pursuits such as Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Mountain Biking and a six mile forest walk. One personal highlight of ours was when one pupil who was terrified of water, opted to take part in all water activities and when a boy, who could only just ride a bike on day one, successfully achieved a six mile forest cycle by day three. The break is designed to help young people realise their potential and build confidence and resilience and we were in no doubt that this objective was achieved.
Two representatives from our funders, Provident Financial, joined the group for activities on day two and asked myself and Mr Oates to pass on our congratulations to all the staff at QMA with regards to the excellent behaviour of the pupils.
It was exhausting but ultimately a pleasure and a privilege to support the pupils on this trip.
