A new award has been created by the Bishops of Scotland to mark, in a lasting way, the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Scotland. The title it has been given is the Caritas Award. Caritas is the Latin word for Love. Pupils who worked towards the award were encouraged to live out their Faith and show Love to others in both their school and parish communities. At least 20 hours of service for both school and parish were then recorded. The pupil also had to spend time in prayerful reflection and to produce a final submission of what the experience has meant to them and their school or parish communities. Rebecca Gowans of S6 has achieved this award and will attend a National Awards Ceremony in the Clyde Auditorium on Saturday 2 June. Well done Rebecca.
