At Queen Margaret Academy we endeavour to ensure our pupils are fully supported. Over the last few months we have discussed study skills with S4,S5, and S6 in PSHE and in curricular areas and assemblies. Pupils have been encouraged to plan their studying with the use of a study timetable. They have been given time and support in class to enable them to do so. We will continue to discuss study skills and expectations for exam preparation through PSHE and assemblies.
Regular meetings with mentors have also been arranged so pupils can discuss their progress and any concerns they have.
Supported Study is available in the majority of subjects after school. A diet of Easter School sessions will be published shortly.
In recent weeks pupils have been issued with their Scottish Candidate Number Card. Pupils have been encouraged to access the SQA website and download the Exam Diet Timetable. It is essential that all pupils are aware of the dates of each exam and plans their studying accordingly. A personalised timetable will be issued to all pupils after Easter.
We would request that parents and guardians emphasise the importance of a study schedule and regular study to their child. Only four teaching weeks remain until exams begin. Our expectation would be that the majority of candidates should be studying every evening, with regular breaks. We would also consider that the Easter break would be a time to consolidate on learning and studying. Again, we suggest this is balanced with your child’s need for regular breaks and some relaxation time.
The final teaching day for S4 pupils will be Wednesday 24th April and for S5/6 Tuesday 7th May.
S4 return as the new s5 on Monday 3rd June. S5 return as the new S6 on Thursday 6th June
We thank all parents and guardians for their support in encouraging their child to achieve his/her fullest potential in the upcoming exams.
