The staff and pupils of Queen Margaret Academy wish you all a happy and successful year.
We are now entering one of the busiest terms for Senior pupils: The S4 reports will be issued shortly; Prelim results are being issued to S4 pupils; S5 will embark upon Prelims at the end of the month so are frantically revising; UCAS applications are being finalised, folio deadlines are due; supported study sessions are beginning to name but a few of the deadlines looming!
Pupils will be supported during this important (and sometimes stressful!) period. S4 and S5 pupils have been allocated mentors who will discuss study plans and keep pupils on track. “How to Study” lessons will also be a focus of PSHE and assemblies.
The Junior discos were a real success and a fabulous end to last term. The pupils looked fabulous and their behaviour was impeccable as they danced the night away in The Ark. Photos from the S3/4 Disco are available in the Media Gallery. S1/2 picture will be uploaded soon!
The s2 ghost story contest was a great success. Our pupils were asked to write their own ghost stories. A winner was chosen from each of the S2 classes with each one going forward to the final. Having chosen the five finalists, each pupil read their story to the entire year group and our very own QMA version of the Booker prize panel! Our judging panel was made up of Linda Fox, the Science technician, Laura Chidwick from Science, Andrew Campbell from Maths and Kennedy Pollock – one of the sixth years.
The overall winner was Briony Scott from Mrs O’Neill class for her fantastic story – “Forbidden Love” but all the contestants read very well. Congratulations to all the pupils who were shortlisted and many thanks to our judges.
Our S1/S2 teams were successful in beating Auchinleck Academy just before the end of term. Both teams played consistently well with accurate shooting skills from Goal Attacks and Goal Shooters. Players of the match were Mia Cullis and Niamh McHugh. Well done. Keep up the winning streak!
Congratulations to our U18 football team. The team achieved a well-deserved win over Carrick Academy. The final score was 2-0 with goals from Scott McLean and Callum Haymarch. Well done to all players involved and their coach Mr Mallon.
Whole school news
It is with great pride that we announce that two of our pupils, Callum Haymarch & Scott McLean (S4) have been chosen for the Scotland Select 16’s team. 24 boys were selected from 4000 after 3 trial games at Toryglen, Glasgow. This is a tremendous achievement and everyone at QMA wishes the two boys the very best in their future playing careers.
