We will be holding an information evening for young people (and their parents or carers) who may be interested in taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme this session 2016 / 2017. This opportunity is open to any young person in third, fourth, fifth or sixth year. The purpose of the evening is to provide an insight into the value of the Award programme and what is required to successfully achieve the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. The meeting will take place in the school library at 7.00 pm on Tuesday 1st November. A presentation will be provided by Mr Vincent McWhirter, Outdoor Education Services DofE Development Team Leader.
Over the last few years the Award programme has become increasingly popular with our young people. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is held in high regard by employers, colleges and universities as it provides an important insight into the character of the young person. At a time when competition for college and university places as well as jobs is fierce, the Award helps our young people have a competitive edge.
We hope to encourage as many pupils as we can to take this opportunity to expand their portfolio of personal achievements, accreditation, makes new friends, develop their self-esteem and develop a wide range of skills and attributes in the process.
