S1 Health Day
On Tuesday the 17th February Queen Margaret Academy will be running a Health Day for S1. Pupils will take part in various workshops emphasising the importance of health and wellbeing. These workshops will include speakers from Woman’s Aid, Oral Health Experts, The Ark, Young Carers and practical workshops involving Active Schools with the climbing wall and our Peer Education Team doing some team building exercises.
S1 Pupils do not need to wear school uniform, however they must come appropriately dressed in comfortable, warm clothing and sensible footwear due to the nature of the practical activities. The climbing wall is run by South Ayrshire Active Schools and follows a strict safety policy in line with council requirements. It is very important that all clothing is appropriate to enable pupils to participate in the activities safely.
The day will be fun as well as educational and give pupils an all-round experience on the various aspects of health and wellbeing.
The following S6 Peer Education pupils will be involved in the S1 Health Day on Tuesday 17th February:
Matthew Gray has been recommended for a summer school at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester this August. This is a fantastic opportunity for Matthew as he will be working with professional musicians during the event. We look forward to hearing about all his experiences later in August.
Ellie Gilligan and Leah De Mey (S3) won the Active Schools volunteer of the Month for January. They attended the week long Dance Leaders course over the summer last year which then enabled them to deliver dance in Primary Schools. Details are below;
